1) Regarding Design Studio Fiori Launchpad Integration: I have found a high-level architecture overview in the product road map document for SAP BO DS 1.6:
The Design Studio App is deployed on the BIP and is technically referenced-embedded into the Fiori Launchpad via an iframe URL (probably opendoc URL inside the iframe).
The Fiori Launchpad runs on a ABAP NW Server.
With iframes one has to be always aware of the Same-Origin Policy restrictions, there is a possible solution (see information in the above link).
Once our Fiori infrastructure will be set up, I will try this iframe url integration of BO reports into a Fiori Launchpad. Probably some additional setup will be needed if we want to avoid that the users have to login/enter login credentials again to BIP once they click on a Tile in the Fiori Launchpad. I am also curious whether it works the same on/from a mobile device or only when accessing it from a desktop, we will see.
I would love to see an official statement from SAP about the support of Design Studio Apps on mobile devices using Windows 8 and Windows 10. We would like to offer a reporting solution to our customers that works on iOS and also on Windows mobile devices, but if there is no official information from SAP it is hard to suggest a solution like Design Studio currently, because we do not want to run into unexpected complications or bugs with more complex apps where in the worst case no solution exists for a windows mobile device and opening a support ticket will not help either because it is not a supported platform yet...
